The girls' goal keeper, Hannah Bowman, earned the 1st team spot as the goalie!! And on second team Tunstall had: Rachel Eames, Courtney Robertson, Dana Rojas, Brittany Warren, and Kristen Wilkinson. First Ever Regional Berth

The Lady Trojans were quite successful in defeating the Patrick County Cougars on Thursday afternoon to snag the third place finish and recieve a ticket to the Region IV tournament. The Trojans started the game off really strong and were able to score all 3 goals in the first half. The Tunstall scorers included: Katie K, and the sister duo of Amber and Lauren Elliot. Patrick Co. put forth a good effort to come back in the second half on a goal scored midway through the 40 minutes, but that was their only goal of the night and the Tunstall defense proved true as they allowed no other shots past the goal line!! Tunstall advances on the Tazewell, VA on Tuesday May, 29th against the Tazewell Lady Bulldogs. This also marks the first ever Regional berth for Tunstall's Girls' Soccer Team, so congratulations to all you Trojans, past and present who have made this possible!! The team is progressing forward year after year, reaching new heights, and having lots of fun all along the way!

GREAT JOB LADY TROJANS!

Tournament Activity

Well so far the Trojan's season is not over!! The Ladies played a great game against Magna Vista on Monday night at Bassett Stadium. Both teams played well, but the Trojans fought harder and pulled away with a 2-0 shutout against the Warriors. The two Tunstall goals were scored first by Kristen Wilkinson on a magnificently placed direct kick, and then in the second half Brittany Warren was able to shoot one in past the Magna Vista keeper. The Ladies played tonight against Martinsville and this Thursday night against the loser of tonight's Patrick Co/Bassett match up. Tunstall and their opponents will be playing for the third place spot in the tournament to advance on to Regional play. Since Tunstall played tonight, Tuesday, against Martinsville and did not finish up as well as they would've liked, losing to the Bulldogs 5-1.

However, the Ladies are SUPER excited about Thursday's game and are extremely syked to try their absolute hardest to win!!! The Trojan women are determined to leave everything on the field that night and it will certainly take a very mighty force to release this game from Tunstall's strong clutches!

To All That We Will Give, And Pray That It Is MORE Than Enough

I am officially VERY sorry for stopping with the game summaries in the middle of our season! Please excuse my shameful laziness!! But the Trojan's Regular Season has now come to a close with Tunstall holding a nice record of 4-5-1. And the Ladies' District Tournament will be heating up, as Tunstall prepares to match up against the Magna Vista Warriors on Monday, May 21, 2007 at Bassett High School Stadium, with the game's kick-off at 7:30 p.m. Tunstall is ranked as the No. 4 seed and Magna Vista the No. 5! However, both teams have equaled out against each other over the season as Tunstall first defeated the Warriors at home, but at their second meeting, Magna Vista was able to come back from a 1-0 deficit after the first half to beat the Trojans 3-1!! SO the match will certainly yield itself to an excellent night of exciting and extremely tense soccer! Emotions are going to run rampant at Bassett on Monday, so the entire Piedmont should be out to watch the match unfold! And of course to cheer on the Trojan Ladies!!!!

We have the ability and potential, but do we have the stronger will to win?
I certainly hope so!

Martinsville, Victory of Spirits

The night following a very frustrating loss to the Patrick County Cougars, Tunstall had yet another match to play, this facing would be against Martinsville City and their Lady Bulldogs!

Typically, in the Piedmont District Martinsville has one of the best, if not the best, teams. But this year it seems as though the field is trully open to every team, or at least the one that wants it more than all the others. SO Tunstall faced the Bulldogs on Thursday, and were trully able to play with them, both teams took several corner kicks and goal kicks, each had alot of throw-ins to move the ball up the field, the two each took a couple free kicks after a foul, and their was even a drop ball in the second half. Both teams were extremely aggressive and worked hard to control the ball and keep it in their possession. But once again Tunstall had trouble finishing on their offensive attacks up the field and were unable to score. Martinsville on the other hand scored once in the first half and again late in the second.

However, this game will certainly be going down as a loss on Tunstall's season record, but as for inside the hearts and minds of all the Trojan girls it certainly has helped to lift their spirits after their game against Patrick County!!!!! Their performance on Thursday was quite impressive and alot different than the previous night, so once again are the Trojans excited about their season and ofcourse looking on the extremely bright side of their spot in the district!!
This coming week the girls will be working on turning all their attacking runs into goals and are looking forward to facing Magna Vista at home on Tuesday and their first rematch of the season, against Dan River away on Friday!!!!!

Stumble at Patrick Co.

The Trojan Ladies did in fact play the Cougars on Wednesday afternoon, all the way in Stuart Virginia. However, the game did not end as Tunstall would have liked! The girls in red started the game very well and controlled the play and tempo of the almost the entire half, but at the end of the first 40 minutes PC had been able to shoot one in on the Trojans. And Tunstall came back onto the field for the second half of the match, keeping the ball on their opponents half of the pitch and working up several attacks. But the girls just weren't able to capitalize on any of their efforts and somehow Patrick County was able to score two more goals that evening, so the score ended as 3-0 against the Trojans.

But Tunstall faced Martinsville the following night, in the fair city stadium....

Postponement at Patrick Co.

The scheduled match versus Patrick Co. has been moved to tomorrow afternoon, Wed. April 18, due to the school and most of the community not having any power. But the game shall be played and when it is Tunstall shall be experimenting with a new adventure of a different starting 11. Several players have been switched around positionally, as the Trojans are going to explore a different approach. But have no fear for Tunstall will be playing with renewed zeal and motivation for a greater performance than their last game!! The Ladies enjoyed their spring break, which proved as a humbling experience after their win against Dan River, and now the Trojans girls are beginning to fully understand the magnitude of their situation within the district this season! Which is a very good one, everyone knows that Tunstall has great talent and experience and excellent potential to be a serious threat for the top team in the season and perhaps even a contender for the District Championship!! So TROJANS....don't loose sight or focus of your goals, because their is still along way to travel and we shall always continue to learn much more along the way!!!!
